It is a competitive task to get a fireman’s job. We will have to work in team. We will have to deal with very tricky environments and unexpected situations. We must have higher level of self-discipline and good communication skills. Our job is mentally and physically demanding and we have to cope up with heavy lifting works, have to work in confined and small areas in a high temperature.

We must initially pass and qualify all the tests in order to jump to the next level, which is the training phase. Most of the municipal fire departments have 2 to 4 months class room training course and practical training session which covers fire avoidance, fire fighting techniques, urgent situation medical event, and dangerous materials. The service trial period of a department will last from 3 to 6 months and it completely depends on the method we choose. This process will eventually help us to become an eligible fireman with firefighting department.
